Lilian was proud to wield the scissors at the opening of Nottingham Station’s new southern concourse.
The new concourse will enhance the passenger experience and interchange with different forms of transport, connecting the multi-storey car park and Nottingham’s tram network, when construction of two new tram lines to Chilwell and Clifton is completed.
A new commemorative photo display was also unveiled as part of the new Southern Concourse celebrating 100 years of Nottingham station.
Speaking at the opening Lilian said:
“The ambitious project to transform Nottingham Station is creating a gateway and transport interchange befitting the City and I’m delighted that the new Southern Concourse has now been completed.
“I’m sure that passengers, both from Nottingham and those visiting the City, will be impressed with what they see and will really benefit from the improved connections between the station, the tram newtwork and the station car park.”
The opening of the new Southern Concourse is part of the £50 million transformation of Nottingham station, which has been taking place over the past two years.
