Nottingham South MP, Lilian Greenwood, has called for an urgent meeting with Boots’ senior executives following the announcement that the firm is planning to cut 700 jobs.

Speaking to the Nottingham Post, Lilian said:

“I’m deeply concerned by this announcement.  A great many of my constituents work for Boots and they will be very worried about how these changes will affect them and their colleagues.

“I have written to Boots’ president, Simon Roberts, asking for an urgent meeting to clarify the reasons behind these changes, the company’s plans over the next three years, and seeking a clear commitment from Boots that compulsory redundancies will be avoided wherever possible.

“Boots is one of the largest employers in Nottingham and we need to know it has a secure future”
