Lilian launched new £3.2 million electric bus fleet today and said “We have got 58 electric buses, which makes us the largest municipal electric fleet in the whole of Europe. I think that’s a measure of how much of a world leader Nottingham is when it comes to public transport, especially green transport.” buses.jpg

She added that the new buses were greener and therefore helping towards climate change objectives, they are cleaner, with no diesel fumes which are bad for health, they are cheaper to run and they are quieter.  Nottingham is leading the way on tackling climate change, air quality and protecting public services.

Welbeck Primary School in the Meadows, were asked to design posters for the launch. Years 3 to 5 took part in creating some fabulous posters. The 10 winners attended the launch event where they were able to see the new buses with their names on the side and were interviewed about their designs. Some of the children even got to sit behind the wheel.
