Nottingham South MP Lilian Greenwood experienced what is involved in delivering the post when she joined local postie, Philip Shelton, on her delivery round in Nottingham South on Monday 1 September 2015.

The morning spent with Philip gave Lilian a unique insight into the challenges of delivering mail to every house and business in their constituency, six days a week.

Andrew McNeil, Royal Mail Clifton Delivery Office Manager, who briefed Lilian before she set off on her walk said: “We’re delighted that Lilian Greenwood MP is taking the time to experience the every day challenges faced by our delivery postmen and women.”

Lilian Greenwood MP said: “On my visit I found that postmen and women not only deliver the mail but play an important part in the local communities across the Nottingham South constituency.

“I joined local postie Philip Shelton who delivers to my constituents, giving me an insight into the work involved in delivering mail on a daily basis – they go out in all weathers, and I thank them for all the work they do.”
