Nottingham South MP, Lilian Greenwood joined members of Nottingham Pensioners Action Group on Saturday 1st February to support National Dignity Action Day at an event held at Sycamore House Care Home.
Dignity Action Day gives everyone the opportunity to contribute to upholding people’s rights to dignity, aiming to ensure that people who use the care services are treated as individuals and are given choice, control and a sense of purpose in their daily lives.
Speaking after the event Lilian said:
“I am delighted to support Dignity Action Day and help highlight a more respectful way of behaving towards vulnerable people by signing the National Pensioners’ Convention’s Dignity in Care Code. I’m pleased that the code is also set to be adopted as part of the city council’s Older Citizens’ charter”
The day was also marked with an afternoon of entertainment for residents living at the care home including songs from the Clarion Choir, cake and tea.
