Housing Minister Grant Shapps has promised to visit the Meadows to see what improvements have been made to the area under the Decent Homes programme (known locally as Secure, Warm, Modern). He will also be able to see for himself the consequences of the Government's withdrawal of £200 million of PFI regeneration funding in 2010.
The Minister had initially promised to visit in March 2011 after a delegation went to Parliament to meet with him, but this so far has not happened.
However, we have now been told that Grant Shapps still intends to make good on that promise. Lilian is currently trying to organise a suitable date with him.
