Lilian Greenwood MP for Nottingham South is delighted to announce that she will be holding a “Poppy Party” on 11th June in support of the Royal British Legion’s ‘Great Poppy Party’ weekend.
The City MP is joining people across the country celebrating the Royal British Legion’s 90th birthday and the work that they do to help our service personnel – both past and present.
The Poppy Party ‘afternoon tea’ will be held in Arkwright Meadows Community Gardens on 11th June from 2pm-4pm and is open to everyone. The Nottingham South MP has organised cream teas, entertainment and stalls to help raise money for injured, sick and wounded troops.
Lilian Greenwood said:
“The Royal British Legion do an amazing job and I am delighted to support their 90th birthday celebrations and ‘Great Poppy Party’ weekend”
“The Legion help thousands of service personnel every year and I strongly back the work they do helping those who have served their country with pride and courage.”
“It is important that we don’t forget the sacrifices our armed forces have made – and continue to make – for our safety and security, which is why I am proud to have signed up to the Legion’s “I’m doing my bit” pledge as well as their call for a legally enforceable military covenant”
“I would like to say a big thank you to all the businesses and organisations for their generous support and contribution and I would encourage anyone who is free on 11th June to come and join the ‘Poppy Party’ fun and support the Royal British Legion.”
